This may seem obvious, but in our culture of technology and screens everywhere, it is ridiculously easy to spend an entire day indoors. I experience this when I get in “the zone”. You know that space when you are on fire doing whatever you are doing and time flies by so fast it is crazy! Before I know it the sun is going down and I am still in my PJs. Granted the pj part doesn’t happen all that often, but the day getting away from me while I remain in my house has happened more than I care to admit. 

When that happens, I can FEEL it. I sense that my body is saying what the heck? I need some fresh air, perhaps some sunlight and vitamin D.  My goal is to avoid this altogether. I want to be proactive and get my booty out the door. 

When I listen to that call from my body I always feel so much better. There is something truly magical about getting out into nature. The cool thing is that it doesn’t always have to be this mountain top, life changing experience. It can simply be you opening your front door and taking three deep breaths. Allowing the air to fill your lungs. 

No matter how you choose to spend your time outdoors, remember to do so mindfully. Pay attention to your surrounding and pause to enjoy all that the natural world has to offer. 

Action Steps

1. Make a point to get outside, weather permitting go barefoot for at least part of the time to experience grounding and the amazing benefits

2. make your time outside technology free in order to truly connect to the beauty around you. 

3. notice 1 specific thing and focus on that. a bird chirping, the shape of the clouds.
